His career began in television soap operas, before moving on to a small part in Thelma and Louis, which lead to roles in mostly badly received films. In the 1990's, he was cast in many well received films such as A River Runs Through It and Se7en, cementing his reputation as a multi-layered actor rather than just a pretty face. In the early 2000's, he also established himself as a popular action star. He continues to produce and act in movies, his most recent being Killing Them Softly.
