Meryl Streep, a British actress, has received an astonishing 17 Oscar nominations over the course of her career and has won 3 of them. She is considered by many to be the greatest living film actress. She started out in theater, before making her film debut in Julia. Success followed quickly with The Deer Hunter and Kramer vs. Kramer, She won two Oscar for her roles in the 1980s. More critically acclaimed film roles followed in the 1990s and the 2000s, and her performance in 2010's The Iron Lady won her her third Oscar.
