Tom Hanks is the highest box office grossing American actor of the present day, most famous for his portrayal of Forrest Gump in 1994. He started out in Broadway, before landing a role in the sitcom Bosom Buddies, which was cancelled after two seasons. His first big break in the movie business came with the comedy Big in the late 1980s. However, his most excellent and well known performances were in the 1990s with movies such as Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, and Saving Private Ryan. During this time, he became the second actor to ever win back to back Oscars (for his roles in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump). He was also inducted as a honorary member of the US Army Rangers for his work in Saving Private Ryan. His next film will be Saving Mr. Banks were he will play the famous Walt Disney.
